Full-day Kindergarten Coming To Centennial!

Beginning September, 2012 Centennial School will offer a full-day kindergarten program. Further information about the Extended Day Program will be coming soon. Kindergarten registration for the 2012-2013 school year runs from Jan. 30 to Feb. 3, 2012. Children eligible for junior kindergarten must be four years old by December 31, 2012 (born in 2008). Children eligible for senior kindergarten must be five years old by December 31, 2012 (born in 2007). Students already in junior kindergarten do not have to re-register for senior kindergarten. To register, please bring proof of age in the form of a birth certificate, statement of live birth, baptismal certificate, or passport. Registration cannot be completed without one of these forms of identification. You will also need to bring your child’s Ontario Health Card and immunization record. Families new to Canada, and student’s whose first language is not English must register through the Family Reception Centre (613-239-2416). Middle French Immersion Registration

The registration period for Middle French Immersion (MFI) is Tue. Feb. 21 to Mon. Feb. 27, 2012. All children currently enrolled in grade 3 are eligible to register for MFI.  For information about  the program please visit the board website. Details regarding Centennial School’s MFI information session will be sent home with students in the near future.

 Cross-boundary Transfers

A parent/guardian may apply for a student transfer for a student to attend a school other than his/her designated school. Cross-boundary applications  must be submitted from Mon. Feb. 13 through Fri. Feb. 24, 2012. Please follow the steps below to apply for a cross-boundary:

a) Register at your child’s designated school. If you are unsure of your child’s designated school please use the school locator application, which can be found at www.ocdsb.ca.
b)
Go to the school your child wishes to attend and fill out the transfer application.

Student transfer requests received during the regular application period shall be approved by the receiving principal, after consultation with the sending principal within the limitations of the student transfer cap and subject to the following criteria:

a) particular learning needs of the student
b) requirements placed on the student
c) and/or exceptional personal circumstances.
